Hygge (Hoo-guh) is a Danish/Norwegian word for a mood of cosiness and comfortable conviviality (the quality of being friendly and lively; friendliness) that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being. It`s about lifestyle, a state of mind, a feeling in us, slowing down and simply being present with the people around you.

At Sunshine we have created a comfortable, safe and cozy haven where we are spending time together making genuine connections and taking pleasure from being together in a beautiful environment with lots of natural materials. Its exactly how we want to spend our days.

We have created a form of togetherness, a pleasant and highly valued everyday experience of safety, equality, personal wholeness and a spontaneous social flow. We understand that a long-term investment in our own self-care and a commitment to care and nurture the people around us is paramount.

We want our children to experience real togetherness, the kind that comes from shared meals, quiet moments, and being fully present with one another.

We also believe caring for others starts with learning to care for yourself, and that belief sits right at the heart of the Sunshine way. This isn’t just about creating a cosy room, it’s about teaching children in age appropriate ways how to notice how they’re feeling, how to settle themselves, and how to be kind to the people around them. That’s a skill that stays with them well beyond their years with us.

Each day, our children take part in yoga, meditation, movement and simple self-regulation practices, small, calm rituals that help them arrive, settle, and feel steady before the day gets going. It’s a gentle, grounding way to start the morning, and one we genuinely believe sets the tone for everything that follows.
